Our Story
LOVEDALE HORSE RESCUE
It’s a heartbreaking fact that many Aussie farmers and families have been decimated by Australia’s terrible drought conditions. Often having to choose between feeding their families or their horses, many horses are left abandoned in dirt ravaged paddocks or worse, sent to the local abattoir.
When Debbie Schwartz looked into the kind eyes of the sad, emaciated mare she knew she couldn’t walk away. With horse rescue charities stretched to the breaking point, Debbie did the only thing she could, purchasing the abandoned animal and her small herd of friends, and officially founding Lovedale Horse Rescue.
WHAT WE DO
Rescue
We adopt, purchase or foster horses in need of some tender love and care and provide them with a fresh start.
Rehabilitate
Dedicating ourselves to each animal, we provide support as they recover from old injuries, put on much needed weight and learn to trust and love again.
Rehome
When they’re ready, we carefully search for, screen and select a new forever family to love and care for each of these magnificent animals.
