About Us

Our Story

It’s a heartbreaking fact that many Aussie farmers and families have been decimated by Australia’s terrible drought conditions. Often having to choose between feeding their families or their horses, many horses are left abandoned in dirt ravaged paddocks or worse, sent to the local abattoir.

When the horses are ready to start their new lives with their forever family, they’re fitted with a microchip, to ensure they never again find themselves without a home or on the way to an abattoir. Collectively we can change the fate of these loved animals of our farming communities and give them a second chance with your kind support.

Building on her vision of a brighter future for all horses, Debbie has enlisted the help of numerous kind hearted volunteers to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these beautiful animals. From gaining and building their trust, to spending in excess of $5,000 per year, per horse to rehabilitate old injuries and bring them back to a healthy condition.

When Debbie Schwartz looked into the kind eyes of the sad, under-nourished mare she knew she couldn’t walk away. With horse rescue charities stretched to the breaking point, Debbie did the only thing she could, purchasing the abandoned animal and her small herd of friends, and officially founding Lovedale Horse Rescue.

Our Trainer

I have been training horses professionally for 5 years now but I’ve owned horses my whole life, I’m focusing on problem horses and training performance horses, rescues, retraining, coaching & starting and working with foals/ yearlings.

I’ve owned and run indigo Equestrian for 4 years now and it’s been the best experience of my life. Now onto my next chapter at Lovedale Horse Rescue where I am able to use my experience for the greater good.

Myself, I have worked with a wide variety of horses such as working as a track rider. I was luckily enough to work in Kalbarri Western Australia on a station. My experience working and learning in So many different equine industries has been truly amazing, I’ve learnt skills I could only hope to be able to share.

While coming to Lovedale Horse Rescue I have been trusted by Debbie and her amazing team to help training and looking after all the horses at Lovedale Horse Rescue. My approach to training is very different to the traditional methods but I’ve found them most effective. I work on creating a bond between horse and rider and working as team.

Whilst living all over Australia I have come across way to many horses needing to be saved from slaughter so over the years I have made it my person duty to recuse and rehabilitate theses beautiful animals. From what started as one little filly rescue has turned in to over 25 horses rescued and saved.

This is my passion and I am so blessed to be able to pursue it at Lovedale Horse Rescue.
